Does Password Protect Folders lock folders automatically or do I have to enter the password?

Password Protect Folders does not automatically lock folders with your passwords as the program does not store your passwords anywhere. This is an important security feature: your passwords will never get into the hands of criminals.

When you protect a folder, a password checksum is written into the locked folder. The checksum cannot be used to lock or unlock folders. It is just a number that allows the program to check if the password you entered is valid or not.

When you finish your work, protect your folders: select the Password Protect Folder option from the right-click menu in Windows Explorer and enter your password.
