Why do I get "Access Denied" message when trying to lock a folder with Password Protect Folders?

Your Windows account may not have enough rights to access the folder. Please try the following steps to grant access rights:

  1. In Windows Explorer, right-click the folder and select Properties from the right-click menu.
  2. Under the Security tab, click Edit.
  3. In Permissions for folder, click Add.
  4. In Select Users or Groups, click Advanced.
  5. Click on the Find Now button.
  6. In Search results, double-click "Everyone" and then click OK.
  7. In Permissions for Folder, select "Everyone" and select Allow Full Control checkbox.
  8. Click Apply and then click OK.

After that try to lock the folder again. If the above does not help, contact our customer support team. We are just one click away from you, and we will be happy to help you. Do not forget to include the text of the error message or attach a screenshot to your message. Send your question to support@password-protect-folders.com
